You will participate in hands-on classroom experiences and a required financial planning internship.
You will take a capstone course in which you practice analyzing personal financial situations in light of economic and regulatory issues, evaluating clients’ objectives and values to develop an appropriate strategy, and formulating and communicating a financial plan tailored to clients’ needs.
This program provides the required coursework you need to take the certified financial planner (CFP) exam. Once you have passed the exam and completed the required hours of related professional experience, you may apply for CFP certification. Earning this credential qualifies you to analyze your clients’ financial needs and provide sound advice on topics such as:
- Insurance and risk management
- Investment planning, securities analysis and asset allocation
- Retirement planning
- Estate planning
- Income and estate tax planning
